Skate or Pie, also known as Sk8orPie, is a pop-up restaurant concept that was conceived by J.Baldwin’s Chefs, Mike Baldwin and Gabriella Rodriguez. They wanted a cuisine of international street food, that would combine their love of skateboarding with their love of pizza.
Their first pop-up event was held in September, 2015 at POP Restaurant, which is located above Checker Bar in Detroit, Michigan. The menu consisted of a Citi-Board Flatbread, Half-Pipe Caesar, Off the Rail “Chick Trick” Chicken with Latin street corn, and Pizza Dough-Knots. The sold out crowd gave rave reviews!
The second pop-up was held in May, 2016 at the Rust Belt Market in Ferndale, Michigan. Another sold out crowd feasted on Tuna Tostada, Kalebbouleh with a Curry Vinaigrette, Kobe Sate with Kimchi and Peanut Sauce, Pig “N” Pear Flatbread, and a “Mexican Style French Toast” Pizza.
